School Traffic Tips

School Crossing

School Speed Limits Save Lives! Slow down in school zones!

School is in session and children will be crossing streets, walking and bicycling to get to and from school.  School bus stops and parent drop off zones could mean a child darting into traffic or in front of your car without warning.  Keep an eye out for children walking in areas without sidewalks.  Stop for school buses using the 'stop' sign arm or with flashing lights.

Drivers, parents and kids all need to pay attention to the surroundings.  Children are unpredictable and often can be difficult pedestrians to see so please drive distraction free! Parents using drop off zones should wait their turn in line and not leave the vehicle. If parents must leave the vehicle, they should park their car in an approved lot or area.  Driving around another stopped car could be dangerous to a child or parent crossing the street!  Patience in school zones is imperative for drivers who could be delayed. If you can, reroute your commute to avoid school zones and known areas of congestion.
