The City of Citrus Heights has made a permanent household hazardous waste (HHW) collection facility available to its residents effective immediately, to replace the temporary HHW collection events. The facility is located at the North Area Recovery Station (NARS), 4450 Roseville Road, North Highlands, about 12 minutes from the center of Citrus Heights. The facility is open year-round on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The facility accepts many types of HHWs, including most products labeled DANGER, CAUTION, WARNING, FLAMMABLE, or POISON. These products are considered HHWs and should NOT be disposed of with regular garbage. “This facility now provides a more convenient option for our residents and accepts more types of household hazardous waste, which we all need to keep out of our trash and landfills” said Steve Miller, the City’s Mayor.
