Arcade-Cripple Creek Trail Project (formerly Electric Greenway Trail Project)

Project Description:

The City is constructing a 2.9 mile long multi-use trail between Sunrise Boulevard (near Arcade Creek Park Preserve) and Wachtel Way that will largely follow an existing Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) electric corridor easement. The project is located in the City and unincorporated Orangevale, and connects several neighborhoods to eight parks, several schools and the Sunrise MarketPlace. In addition to a paved multi-use trail, this Project also includes:

• A new signalized crossing of Fair Oaks Boulevard
• Pathway lighting
• Sidewalk, curb and gutter along a segment of Oak Avenue
• Drainage improvements
• Traffic signal modifications
• Landscaping

Construction Schedule & Notices:

Construction is anticipated to occur from October 2022 to November 2023. 

In general, the Project will be constructed in phases, moving from west to east (starting at Sunrise Blvd and ending at Wachtel Way). 

Sundance Natural Area Bridge Closure

The existing bridge will be closed beginning Thursday 9/7/23 to allow construction of the new, ADA compliant bridge.  The tentative schedule for the new bridge install is as follows:

9/7/23: Close existing bridge and begin bridge removal and excavation

9/18/23: Begin pile-driving for new abutments

10/6/23: Set new bridge in place

10/9/23: Pave trail connections to bridge, install lighting and all trail components

10/31/23: Open new bridge and trail
