Trees, Brush & Weed Abatement

Request Tree, Brush & Weed Services
The City of Citrus Heights encompasses approximately 14 square miles.  The City is responsible for maintaining open areas, landscape districts and all landscaped medians throughout the City.  Through several private contractors, Citrus Heights provides tree maintenance and brush and weed abatement services for areas within the public rights-of-way.  Weed abatement is performed seasonally and specifically during the spring growing cycle.  Materials used are selected on the basis of overall long-term application control, sustainability and effectiveness.  As part of an ongoing plan to use sustainable and organic products, the City uses non-toxic, environmentally safe products that leave no lasting soil residue.  Applications are performed on clear, calm, sunny days during normal business hours (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM).  Click EAST or WEST for the Spring 2016 Weed Abatement schedules.
Creek Clean Up

The City performs tree maintenance work in various right of way (ROW) locations throughout the year to enhance the line of sight for pedestrians, drivers and cyclists.  Palm trees are pruned every three to five years depending on the weight of the skirt (dried palm fronds) and the overall amount of new growth, which varies depending on the amount of rain received over the winter.

During the month of August, West Coast Arborists will be doing ROW and palm tree pruning according to the following schedule.  If you have any questions please contact the General Services Department at 916-727-4770.

Week of August 1 - WCA working on Sylvan Corners
Week of August 8 - Palm Tree pruning on Sunrise Blvd.
August 15 - Palm Trees - Greenback & Arcadia
August 16 - Palm Trees - Auburn & Van Maren
August 17-18 - Palm Trees - Fountain Square
August 19 - Palm Trees - Final
Week of August 22 - Right of Way Work

Additionally, in certain circumstances, city staff members may coordinate with property owners when maintenance of trees on private property is necessary for public safety.
